USS NAUTILUS OPEN They christened her with the most famous name in submarine history. And she lived up to it. For 25 years after she put to sea in 1955, she roamed the world's oceans, a triumph for American technology and a symbol of military strength. Today she stands at ease, tied fast to a Groton, Connecticut, dock -- the center of a museum where 300,000 people visit each year to learn something of her story. She cruised much faster, deeper and farther than ever before -- a weapon system that gave us a radically new form of energy and revolutionized international military strategy.
